Vegetarian Diet Proven To Be Better For Heart Health

The science is clear: a vegetarian diet is better for heart health, a study says – but does that include processed meat alternatives? "While not as healthful as whole plants, they are useful transition foods," says one researcher. Researchers say a vegan or vegetarian diet is associated with a 40% reduction in the risk of death from cardiovascular disease and a 40% reduction in the risk of coronary heart disease. A director at the Science Committee for Responsible Medicine said “a whole-food, plant based diet” is the healthiest option, however the less processed foods the better for health. Kahleova, a researcher, said: “A plant-based diet has the power to not only prevent heart disease, but also manage and sometimes even reverse it – something no drug has ever done”.
